Dylan Thornton attends Gateway Dirt Nationals

Dylan Thornton returned to the driver’s seat of the DRT Race Cars No. 13 Late Model over the weekend, taking on the ninth annual Gateway Dirt Nationals inside The Dome at America’s Center.

With his preliminary night set for Thursday, Thornton’s qualifying effort left him buried, but he rebounded as the night unfolded. An eighth-to-fourth charge in his heat was followed by a clutch transfer in the consolation race, putting him into the $10,000-to-win prelim. Rolling off from the ninth row, he salvaged a 13th-place finish in the feature.

Unable to transfer through on Saturday, Thornton was awarded a provisional for the $70,000-to-win Gateway Dirt Nationals finale. His weekend concluded with a 13th-place result after retiring 10 laps shy of the checkered flag.
